Context of my call is: I am the – er – the poor sod, who is dealing with the theft at the Kunsthalle Hamburg, of Alberto Giacometti…
Ok…
Well, unfortunately a Giacometti got lost…
Hmmm…
And I am the silly employee, who is working on it. Now, somebody sent this to me here – I don’t even know who – someone has sent it to me – I see, the Kunsthalle itself.
Yes…
And now I have a fairly silly question: Is it possible, that this guy Jochen Hendricks or Jochem Hendricks…
Yes…
Er, might steal or hire someone to steal something like that, to call attention to himself? You know, I am sitting here like – er – like the mouse – er – in front of the mousetrap which is not quite correctly…
Yes…
Correctly expressed either. I am sitting here waiting to get any kind of information.
Yes!
It’s the figurine from 1956, 32 cm, relatively small. My assumption is that some kind of collector orders it to be stolen… but the Director of the Kunsthalle in Hamburg said to me – er – this collector circulates but was never convicted so far. He circulates over and over again in the media but he says: every collector, who has such a thing, some day wants to…
Show it…
show it to somebody…
Well sure…
He wants to share his possession, in a way.
Yes, yes, yes!
And that’s it, everything will be uncovered in the end.
